Mike Brown is the CEO and Creative Director at Maverick Games – a name inspired by a label he received in old performance reviews: a maverick.
Someone who challenged convention, thought differently, and pushed for better. Eventually, he built a studio around that very idea.
Mike’s career began at Evolution Studios, where he discovered a passion for crafting immersive, emotionally engaging racing games. He later joined Playground Games, rising through the ranks to become Creative Director on Forza Horizon 5 — a game that achieved record-breaking success and critical acclaim.
But even at the top, Mike felt the pull to do things differently. In 2022, he founded Maverick Games: a AAA studio where developers are trusted, inspired, and empowered to take creative risks and push the medium forward.
Now leading a world-class team of over 100 developers, Mike is steering the creation of Maverick’s debut title: an ambitious, narrative-led, open-world driving game for PC and console, published by Amazon Games.
