As a great warm-up to Interactive Futures, the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP), Warwickshire County Council and Ukie (UK Interactive Entertainment) have teamed up to hold the Games Business Development Forum on Thursday 31 January at the Royal Spa Centre.
The free afternoon event has attracted leading industry specialists and is aimed at games development companies throughout the region who are planning to take the next step to grow their business to hear advice on preparing to pitch for work overseas, secure funding or develop a relationship with the media.
The Games Business Development Forum, which will take place between 1pm-6pm on Thursday 31 January 31, is part of Ukie’s 2019 ’30 Years of Play’ campaign.
The impressive line-up of speakers and their topics include:
Alex Tutty, Sheridans: ‘How to get your business investor ready’
Chris Bain, Player One Consulting (formerly of Microsoft): ‘What do first party investors look for in the pitches they receive?’
Nick Parker, Parker Consulting: ‘Opportunities in games – what type of investment do you need?’
Hannah Waddilove, Unit 2 Games: ‘Reaching out to China – how to prepare your pitch for Far East investment’
Anna Mansi, BFI: ‘Applying for Video Games Tax Relief’
Steve Stopps, Excalibur: ‘Tales from the front line of seeking investment’
Sam Collins, Ukie: ‘Making the most of trade show attendance’
Sophia Drake, Steel Media: ‘How to engage with the press to raise your profile’
The event is free but tickets must be reserved in advance.
Networking will follow the speakers at 4.30pm.
The event takes place at The Royal Spa Centre in Newbold Terrace, Leamington Spa.

Visitors at the event will hear from speakers from Codemasters, Playground Games, SEGA HARDlight, Sumo Digital, Ubisoft, Playstation, Space Ape Games, Frontier, Jagex, Midoki, Special Effect, among others, at the event, which runs at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington Spa on 1 & 2 February 2019. Sessions will cover technical design, access to finance and business guidance, careers in games, accessibility and the rise of women in games, alongside family workshops, a showcase expo and much more.
