IWGB Game Workers joins Interactive Futures 2021 as Event Partner
We’re delighted to confirm the IWGB Game Workers union as an Event Partner for Interactive Futures 2021, which is taking place virtually on February 16th-20th.
IWGB Game Workers will be taking part in speaker sessions during Interactive Futures and those interested in a pursuing a career in video games will also be able to meet them as part of the virtual EXPO.
The IWGB Game Workers union says: “We are IWGB Game Workers – a worker-led, democratic trade union that represents and advocates for UK game workers’ rights.
“We seek to increase the quality of life for all game workers by campaigning to end the institutionalised practice of excessive/unpaid overtime, improve diversity and inclusion at all levels, inform workers of their rights, support those who are abused, harassed, or need representation, and secure a steady and fair wage for all.
“We are looking forward to connecting with workers from studios in and around Leamington Spa!”
The Leamington Spa games hub will open its virtual doors in February 2021 to once again showcase the talent and creativity of the video games studios within the region.
But, uniquely, Interactive Futures 2021 will also provide exclusive insight into the many career options available within the games industry – along with practical advice and guidance to students, young people and children on how to navigate their own pathways.
Importantly, the event will speak to parents too, highlighting the fact that a career in games is a valid, valuable and well-rewarded one – and one that exists right on their doorsteps in Leamington Spa and the wider Coventry and Warwickshire region.
The week will kick off with an industry-focused day on Tuesday February 16th, showcasing the talent in the region, taking a look at why so many of the Best Places To Work winners are located in Leamington Spa, as well as providing practical advice to the myriad of indie studios in the area.
Then, from Wednesday February 17th to Saturday February 20th, a series of dedicated conference sessions will be hosted for primary school children, secondary school children and young people and Further Education and Higher Education students.
