Game audio tells the story of how it feels to play a game. It is both a technical and emotional medium. As game Audio Designers, we work to reinforce and accentuate the work of our fellow developers, while also directing and enhancing the player’s emotional response
Matthew Florianz is an Audio Designer with over 20 years of game development experience in marketing, level design, art, game design and management. At Frontier Developments he approaches game development holistically, intuitively and with attention to both the developer and the end-user’s experience.
In Matthew’s own words: “We have to step beyond our core creative tasks and think in terms of systems and implementation, while also clearly advocating audio’s role within the development processes of the rest of the game team. It’s all about communication and storytelling.”
In the words of Jim Croft, Head of Audio at Frontier: “Matthew’s broad experience in game development has helped shape him as a communicative and inclusive leader, and this multidisciplinary experience has helped inform his successful transition from generalist developer to outstanding Audio Lead.”
